mazes – The second day of Christmas
Many children struggle with handwriting. Sometimes this can be a sign of immature fine motor skills. A method of supporting your child with this is to provide them with a selection of mazes.
Why?
The skills needed to follow the narrow lines within the maze with accuracy require are like those needed to perform handwriting skills.
As children get older, they may feel that the pre-school books which offer support in tracing lines and shapes, are patronising.
By providing other activities such as mazes your child can develop the skills needed without using products designed for early years children.
Obviously sometimes there are other underlying issues which may need investigating further. If you feel this is the case, talk to your child’s teacher as your first port of call.
